Rediscovering the Daisy

JOURNAL ENTRY #11

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2026

Today I spent part of my day searching through old photographs, hoping to find a very specific image — the original daisy photograph that inspired the daisy artwork I use today.

The challenge was that I couldn’t remember exactly when I had taken it.

After searching through not one, not two, but three thumb drives, I finally found it.

The photograph was taken on June 14, 2015, in Ionia, Michigan, my husband’s hometown.

As soon as I saw it, I knew I had found the right one.

This simple daisy has become much more than a flower over the years. It eventually found its way into my artwork and became a symbol woven into the story of LHogarth Creative Living. Finding the original photograph felt like finding an old friend.

What surprised me most wasn’t just finding the daisy.

It was everything else I discovered along the way.

Those thumb drives held years of memories, adventures, and experiences from the early days of my artist journey. Many of the photographs were taken as future painting references. Others captured places I visited, moments that inspired me, and the simple beauty that caught my eye long before I knew where my creative path would lead.

As I scrolled through image after image, I was reminded of how many stories are tucked away inside old photographs. They preserve more than scenery; they preserve seasons of life.

The experience brought a great deal of joy and gratitude.

It also sparked an idea.

There are so many photographs and stories hidden away in those archives that I would love to share in the future. Some may become artwork. Others may simply become stories worth telling.

Sometimes looking backward helps us appreciate how far we’ve come.

Tonight, I’m grateful that a search for a single daisy led me back through a decade of memories and reminded me where so much of this creativity began.

Have a wonderful evening.
